We at Raaga have created a unique business model by engaging Rural Artisans. Our artisans belong to the remote villages and small towns of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. We have established ourselves as a perfect link between these rural artisans and global consumers in order to develop livelihoods and support the revival of traditional textile skills, sustaining grassroots communities. This includes hand skills training, the development of natural and low-impact dyes and use of organic cotton promoting environmental justice and fair trade.

We searched all over to find proficient artisans in hand tying and dyeing, an ancient technique where fabric is twisted, then tied with string at different intervals, and then dyed. It is difficult to talk about fashion in the abstract, without a choice of fabric, without a practical or visual reality.
Stitching requires endurance, everything from the edges of sheets, curtains or garments with intricate details and meticulous patterns. Hand stitching is of course a tradition in India, passed down from generation to generation.
